Strasbourg, France, 19–22 June 2017. Europe's leading event for intelligent transport specialists.
The theme of cross-border interoperability of intelligent transport solutions and autonomous vehicle will be central topics at the ITS European Congress in Strasbourg.
The challenge will constitute an ephemeral service for demonstration during the Congress and evaluation purposes. Each pre-selected candidate will operate its own shuttles on the same route of less than 2 km linking the territories of Kehl and Strasbourg by crossing the Rhine on an existing bridge. They will operate in accordance with the same specifications, in separate slots, transporting the public (congress participants but also general public). Shuttle peak frequency and peak service capacity will be prescribed, amongst other performance requirements. Competitors should ensure a full service adapted to fluctuating user demand during the whole slot. User immediate satisfaction scores will decide the final winner.
This Challenge project is part of the Franco-German initiative for electric and digital mobility (“Deutsch-Französische Initiative Elektromobilität und Digitalität”) and it is organised under the patronage of the French Secretary of State for Transport, Sea and Fisheries and is supported by the German Federal Minister for Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI).
The call for expressions of interest will be launched on February 3rd by the Eurodistrict Strasbourg-Ortenau in cooperation with the Eurometropole of Strasbourg, the City of Kehl and the Ministry of Transport of Baden-Württemberg. The challenge will be open to designers and builders of autonomous shuttles of all nationalities and the deadline for pre-selection applications is 28 February 2017.
